PUTTING A SMILE ON A CHILD’S FACE THIS CHRISTMAS
The magic of Christmas came alive at Cabra-Vale Diggers this year, as our members, staff, and community joined forces to spread joy and kindness to children in need. Through our annual Wishing Tree initiative, countless gifts were collected and donated, ensuring that many local families and children experiencing hardship would have a reason to smile this holiday season.
We were thrilled by the incredible generosity shown by everyone involved. This year, the Cabra-Vale Diggers Wishing Tree saw a remarkable contribution of toys and gifts for children supported by the NSW Department of Communities and Justice. These gifts will be distributed to families in crisis and children who have been removed from their homes, providing them with a little comfort and joy during a challenging time.
Our President, Walter Robinson, and Community & Partnership Manager, Shayne, had the honour of presenting the gifts to Devitt, a dedicated caseworker from the Department. Devitt and his team work tirelessly with vulnerable children and families across the Fairfield LGA, and these gifts will now find their way into the hands of children who need them most.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to Joe Lahood from Chartee Gifts for his generous donations that supported this initiative once again. We are continually inspired by Joe’s dedication to giving back to the community. A special mention also goes to our staff, Directors, and members, who embraced the call to action and made this effort truly meaningful.
Over at our sister club, Campbelltown RSL, the Wishing Tree campaign also experienced its best year yet. Donations flowed in for the Kids of Macarthur Health Foundation, with gifts set to bring joy to children receiving treatment at the local hospital. Denise McGrath was on hand to collect the donations, which will bring comfort to families facing health challenges over the festive period.
It’s at times like these we are reminded of the power of community and compassion. Thanks to everyone’s efforts, we have helped create brighter moments and cherished memories for children and families this Christmas.
